How percentages work
Percent-of and shares may be negative. Increase/decrease multiply the base by (1 ± percent/100); negative bases can move in the opposite numerical direction. Rates must be nonnegative; a decrease over 100% may cross zero. Signed change is (new − previous)/abs(previous) × 100; previous zero is undefined, even 0 to 0.
Inputs use exact decimal arithmetic. At most 60 digits including 30 fractional digits; results show up to 12 decimals. ≈ means rounded. ASCII and the selected language's digits are accepted. No implicit separator conversion.
